All new students must email a digital photo to the Office of Information Technology by August 9, 2015. The photo should be taken in portrait orientation and saved at 72 DPI resolution (ideally the photo should be 300 pixels wide and 375 pixels high). If you are unaware of the pixels or resolution, simply send us a clear, close-up photo of your face, with a neutral background. Do not wear sunglasses or hats. Please submit photos via the Admissions Portal.

Manhattan School of Music has the right to reject any photo and to request a new photo. Those who do not supply an acceptable photo by the deadline will need to be extremely patient as they check in, as their ID card will not be ready upon their arrival.

Housing Documents

If you will be a freshman, first year transfer, or sophomore during the 2015-2016 academic you will be required to live on campus. MSM believes in the experience of cultivating a community of musicians, and living on campus is the first step toward becoming a part of the thriving musical environment.

How to Complete the Housing Selection Process:

  •       Complete your Housing Application which is sent via email and is accessible on the Housing Section of the Admissions Portal
  •       Pay your Housing Deposit. You can pay online via Paypal on the Housing Section of the Admissions Portal
  •       Turn in your signed Residence Hall Agreement (accessible on the Admissions Portal) to the Department of Student Affairs by May 1st (Graduate Students) or June 1st (Undergraduate Students).

MSM has limited housing for incoming graduate students. For first consideration you must complete your housing application, pay your housing deposit, and submit your residence hall agreement by the priority deadline of May 1st. Please be advised that meeting this deadline does not guarantee on campus housing. The Department of Student Affairs will continue to accept applications after the May 1 deadline but the likelihood of being placed on a wait list is increased and we may be unable to accommodate your request to live on campus.

Summer English Study

Summer English Study (SES) is an eight-week ESL program for accepted students who will attend MSM. SES students take classes Monday through Friday for four hours each day. Classes focus on four skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. SES students also learn the special English of music theory and music history. Class sizes are small and SES students enjoy one-to-one meetings with current MSM students to practice English.
