Oboe Audition

Audition Procedures

Auditions are approximately 10 minutes in length (doctoral auditions are approximately 30 minutes in length). Each applicant chooses his/her first work and the faculty will choose a second and possibly third work from the audition repertoire list provided by the applicant. An accompanist is not provided at auditions. If applicants wish to bring their own accompanists they may do so.

Please Note: The oboe faculty highly recommend that you arrange a trial lesson with one of the professors with whom you are most interested in studying. The oboe faculty will be offering one free trial lesson to interested applicants. This is a great way for the oboe faculty to assess you early on, and it’s a great way for you to see if MSM is a good fit. Please email admission@msmnyc.edu to tell the Admissions Team with whom you would like to take a trail lesson, and they will give you the best contact information for that faculty member.
