The Seven Shadows of Shakespeare is an MSM Student Project created by Junior Vocal Arts student, Emma Kristin Batchvarov. The project is a cross-disciplinary project that brings together classical voice, musical theatre, jazz, composition and piano, revolving around Shakespeare’s body of work and his influences in various genres.
MSM Musical Theatre will present Steve Martin and Edie Brickell's Bright Star from October 23 to 25 in the Riverside Theatre. We spoke with MSM Musical Theatre senior, Ishita Bansal (BM ’27), who plays the protagonist Alice Murphy, about the musical, her experience stepping into Alice’s shoes, and why you should see the show.
The production marking the composition’s 50th anniversary features three generations of performers: musicians from MSM’s Contemporary Performance Program (CPP) —both current students and alumni—playing alongside original members of the Steve Reich Ensemble, and the Grammy Award-winning ensemble Alarm Will Sound.
