Precollege Faculty:
Jazz Theory & Ear Training

Amanda Addleman is a New York City-based, San Francisco-raised vocalist, pianist, composer, arranger, and educator.
Addleman’s musical approach is one well-steeped in a reverence for the traditions of great jazz musicians of the last century, yet her sound represents an informed departure from the sounds of earlier generations of improvisational musicians. In fusing the spirit of contemporary folk, rock, and pop composition and performance stylings, Addleman’s style blossoms with a freedom from genre restraint, while maintaining a consistent and cohesive sound that still maintains an obvious reverence for those who came before. She has recorded two full length albums and two singles all available on bandcamp and streaming services.
With over 15 years experience in music education, Addleman has maintained a full private studio roster, directed secondary school jazz and choral programs, hosted master classes and clinics on a wide range of topics, built courses for all ages at the California Jazz Conservatory, and earned a license to teach from the state of California.  Her aim is to build and foster a teaching style that is academically rigorous, culturally conscious, socially aware, inclusive the latest educational research, and aligned with current employment trends the music industry.
Addleman earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Berklee College of Music and her Master’s from Manhattan School of Music as well as her teaching credential in music from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
