One of the best parts of living in Andersen Hall is having the opportunity to make connections and build friendships with other musicians and artists. Residence Life makes it easy to meet new people by hosting tons of fun events throughout the year.

Residential Curriculum

Residence Life hosts events that are fun, but we also strive to offer our residents something of value to support their success while living on campus. We have 3 goals when it comes to the programs and events Creating Connections, Exploring Identity, and Making Educated Decisions. Creating Connections
Goal 1: Creating Connections

Intended Outcomes:
- 1.1 Students develop meaningful relationships and connections within the community.
- 1.2 Students actively participate in community activities, events, and initiatives.
- 1.3 Students contribute positively to the overall sense of belonging and well-being within and beyond the residential community.
Exploring Identity
Goal 2: Exploring Identity

Intended Outcomes:
- 2.1 Students embrace and celebrate their unique identities, fostering self-confidence and self-acceptance.
- 2.2 Students engage in self-reflection and exploration to gain a deeper understanding of their own identities.
- 2.3 Students demonstrate curiosity and respect for diverse worldviews, cultures, and experiences, promoting a culture of inclusivity and appreciation for differences.
Making Educated Decisions
Goal 3: Making Educated Decisions

Intended Outcomes:
- 3.1 Students understand and abide by community policies and expectations, promoting a safe and respectful living environment.
- 3.2 Students gain essential life skills and knowledge to live independently and responsibly, preparing them for success beyond the residential community.
- 3.3 Students prioritize their own well-being through self-care practices and make informed decisions that support their personal and academic growth.

Popular Programs and Events

We host events that everyone can enjoy. Some of our Resident’s favorite events include:

Bingo – Residents enjoy our themed bingo events. We’ve done self-care bingo, bedroom bingo, and each time residents love competing for prizes and learning a bit along the way!
Crafting – Whether it’s painting on canvases, plant holders, or pumpkins, our residents enjoy taking a break to express their creativity in a different and relaxing way.
Competitions – Our residents can get competitive when it comes to Mario Kart or ping-pong tournaments where they have a chance to win prizes and bragging rights.
Cultural Celebrations – We love to celebrate the many cultures represented in Andersen Hall! We frequently host events that celebrate identity, featuring food, music, and activities from various cultures.
Giveaways – We love giving our residents opportunities to win prizes! During our Residence Life Orientation meeting, residents have the chance to win big prizes such as TVs, air fryers, and other items to make them feel more at home.
Karaoke – Residents enjoy singing their favorite hits together! You don’t need to be a vocalist to participate, just come out and have fun!

Polar Points
Polar Points are points students can earn for a better lottery time during room selection. We also raffle other prizes to those with the highest percentage of polar points earned.

How to Earn Polar Points
Students earn Polar Points based on the following:

Res Life Program Attendance
- 1-10 points based on the average number of programs attended by hallmates.
- Bring your MSM ID number or Personal QR code to Residence Life Events so that the staff can scan you in and mark you present.
Campus Involvement
Involvement in an MSM Club
Member \ Executive Board Leader
- High Involvement = 4 | 5
- Average Involvement = 3 | 4
- Low Involvement = 2 | 3
- No Involvement = 0 Points
During the spring semester, club Presidents will be asked to submit the number of points their club members have earned to Residence Life.

Conduct Standing
- No record for the year = 10 Points
- Disciplinary Warning = 6 Points
- 1+ Disciplinary Warning = 2 Points
- Probation = 0 Points
