Joanne Chang, a native of Malaysia, is an accomplished pianist, teacher, coach, and entrepreneur. Hailed for her captivating and poetic musical interpretations, Chang has performed for the Dame Myra Hess Concert Series, WQXR’s Young Artist Showcase, Juilliard’s AXIOM and Vocal Arts, Heartbeat Opera, Hidden Valley Festival of Winds, and in collaborations with musicians of the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. Chang earned a Doctor of Music degree in Piano Performance and Literature from Indiana University and completed a Graduate Diploma in Collaborative Piano at The Juilliard School. Her achievements include her 2018 piano album Díalogos and her appointment as chair of the 2022 MTNA National Conference Pedagogy Saturday for Young Professionals. Chang’s mentors include Jonathan Feldman, Kevin Short, Bill Burden, Steven Laitz, Karen Shaw, and Menahem Pressler. She maintains an active performing schedule and teaches at Juilliard and 92NY.
