Precollege Faculty: Harp
Harpist Minyoung Kwon is an avid orchestral, chamber, and solo musician, who has appeared internationally in venues such as Musikverein in Vienna, Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall in NY, and Ilshin Hall in Seoul.
Away from the harp, Minyoung has formerly had professional experience at Millennium Villages Project, CNN International, Asan Institute for Policy Studies, and World Childhood Foundation USA. She brings this diverse experience to her music and her musical adventures. In 2011, Minyoung founded ACME (Andover Charity Music Ensemble), an ensemble formed to raise awareness on pressing social issues through music. She oversaw the production of two concerts in 2011 and 2014, whose proceeds were donated to North Korean Human Rights in 2011 and a new permanent exhibition on Comfort Women at the Harriet & Kenneth Kupferberg Holocaust Research Center in 2014. Most recently, she was featured in artist NaYon Cho’s animation on Adult Swim. Minyoung is excited to continue to explore the boundless possibilities in interdisciplinary collaborations and to investigate the role of music as the social demands evolve.
Minyoung received her BA in Government and Economics at Smith College. She is currently pursuing her DMA at MSM under the tutelage of Ms. Mariko Anraku. Her past teachers include Ms. Isabelle Perrin and Dr. June Han.
Manhattan School of Music Precollege faculty since 2022.
