Precollege Faculty:Oboe
Yousun Chung, Oboist, has appeared in Europe, Asia, and throughout the United States as a soloist, guest artist, chamber musician, and orchestral musician. Based in New York, she has performed with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, New York City Ballet, New York City Opera, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, American Symphony Orchestra, Santa Fe Opera, and Sejong Soloists.
Ms. Chung is a Lecturer of Oboe at Princeton University and is a member of the Oboe performance faculty member at The Juilliard School Pre-college Division, The Manhattan School of Music Pre-college division and the Mannes School of Music Prep Division, as well as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Oboe at Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music. Previously, Yousun was a Senior Artist Teacher at the Hartt School of Music (University of Hartford) and was a teaching artist at Columbia University for selection of the Dolan Prize. In addition, she has served as a faculty for Carnegie Hall’s National Youth Orchestra (NYO2/substitute), Vianden International Music Festival and School in Luxembourg, and also has served as an artist for the Great Mountains International Music Festival and School in South Korea.
Yousun received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from The Juilliard School, where she studied with Elaine Douvas, Eugene Izotov, John Mack, and Linda Strommen as a recipient of the Eilleen Hayes Ludlam Memorial scholarship. Ms. Chung also received a Professional Studies degree from the Mannes School of Music, where she studied with Elaine Douvas and Richard Dallessio.
Yousun serves as the Artistic Director of Music Aloud, an organization dedicated to making music performance inclusive and accessible to underserved first generation and low-income students. She has organized numerous recitals and fundraising concerts with her students and colleagues throughout the New York area.
