MSM Musical Theatre alumna Jasmine Amy Rogers (’19) is receiving once-in-a-generation raves from major publications for her Broadway debut playing Betty Boop, the iconic cartoon character created in the 1930s. The show opened on April 5.
“I have to be the luckiest girl in the world,” writes Jasmine on her Instagram account, posting photographs from opening night.

Praise in the press for Jasmine:
“As Betty, the flapper of early talkie cartoons, Jasmine Amy Rogers is immensely likeable. She sings fabulously, sports a credible perma-smile, nails all the Boop mannerisms.”
“This Betty Boop is Broadway’s newest star… It’s not every day you get to see a new Broadway star be born, but I witnessed it at the first preview of BOOP!”
“A Broadway star is born in new musical,” reads the headline in The Daily Post. “That’s Jasmine Amy Rogers, the 25-year-old actress who’s making a marvelous Broadway debut in “Boop!,” the musical comedy at the Broadhurst Theatre. She may be playing a two-dimensional character, but she’s one heck of a triple threat. How refreshing to see… a bona fide new stage star hoofing and belting with the best of ’em.”
“Jasmine Amy Rogers is giving us something to shout about!” host Sara Gore tells viewers of NBC New York the day before the official opening of the production.
“Savor this show’s red-hot cinnamon heart: Jasmine Amy Rogers, making a sensational Broadway debut as the 1930s animated-short icon Betty Boop.”
“Jasmine Amy Rogers… a smashing Broadway bow”
