ABOUT MARLENA MALAS
Marlena Malas, a revered member of the MSM Community since joining the faculty in 1982, was a recipient of the 2021 MSM President’s Medal for Distinguished Service.
She had the joy of seeing many of her students go on to careers on the world’s most prestigious stages and in classrooms at esteemed conservatories and universities throughout the world.
An accomplished mezzo-soprano, she achieved her own record of superb performances and recordings.
We celebrate her supreme warmth, prodigious pedagogical skills, and the invaluable contributions she made to MSM and the Vocal Arts Division over the course of her 41 years at MSM.
She is dearly missed.
Manhattan School of Music’s public programs are made possible in part by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
